Tyne and Wear Metro has been part of everyday life in Tyne and Wear since 1980. Today and every day it transports thousands of people to work, school, university, on days out and to visit friends and family. Tyne and Wear Metro has 60 stations linking their customers to Newcastle city centre, Sunderland city centre, Newcastle International Airport, our wonderful coastline, top sporting venues and hundreds of visitor attractions.
Tyne and Wear Metro have a fantastic Kids Go Free promise which allows up to three children aged 11 and under to travel for free on Metro with a fare paying adult. Plus with Pop Pay As You Go customers can enjoy the easiest and cheapest way to pay for single and day trips.

Yesterday was an inspiring day for the schools and groups taking part in our SOLD OUT Community Learning Programme! 🐰
We welcomed them to @quorum_park for a special inspiration session, giving everyone a sneak peek into the exciting project ahead as they prepare to design and decorate their very own Little @officialpeterrabbit™ sculpture. 👀
Annie from @wildinart joined us to share creative tips, ideas and plenty of encouragement to help spark imagination back in the classroom. Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for… sculpture collection time!
It was wonderful to see each Little Peter Rabbit™ carefully buckled up in cars -seatbelts on, of course -ready to head off for their glow ups. Over the next few weeks, these blank sculptures will be transformed into beautiful, colourful creations before returning to us in July, ready to hop onto the trail. 💙
Good luck to all of our Community Learning Programme schools and groups. We can’t wait to see your amazing designs come to life! 🍀🐇

With Mother’s Day approaching on Sunday 15th March, we know this can be a difficult time for those whose mums, or mother figures, are no longer here to celebrate in person. 💙
If you’d like to do something meaningful to honour your mum, or anyone you love and miss, you might wish to dedicate a leaf in their memory on our Meadow of Memories book bench. 🍂
Your dedication will ensure their name becomes part of a beautiful sculpture featured in this summer’s @officialpeterrabbit ™: Tales on the Tyne art trail. The bench will be displayed for nine weeks at @newcastlecathedral , where you’re welcome to visit it and spend a quiet moment of remembrance. Afterwards, it will return to a permanent home in the gardens of St Oswald’s Hospice.

Did you know this July marks the 160th anniversary of Beatrix’s birth? Now that’s something to carrot about. 🐰📚
What better way to mark the day than by sharing a tale or two? That’s exactly what Isobel, one of the young people who uses the Children and Young Adults service at @stoswaldsuk, has been doing, with a little help from Peter Rabbit himself. 💙

There were no Monday blues for Team Tales on the Tyne as we welcomed a very special delivery…a fabulous fluffle of @officialpeterrabbit™ sculptures who hopped into their tem-paw-rary home to plenty of excitement! Now burrowed away safely in our painting space at @quorum_park, they’re eagerly waiting to be paired with the talented artists who’ll bring them to life for this summer’s trail. 💙
A huge thank you to the brilliant Quorum team and our friends at trail sponsors SSCL and @elavon_europe for helping us carefully unload, unpack, and check over every single Peter Rabbit™.
The painting process begins next month (top secret, of course 👀). But don’t worry, we’ll be sharing a few sneak peeks…watch this space! 🎨

Designed by artist @julia_jddi, this beautiful book bench sculpture offers a special way to remember someone you love and miss.
For a donation of £30 to @stoswaldsuk, we will add the name of your loved to one of the hand-painted leaves adorning the bench, each a gentle symbol of remembrance, watched over by @officialpeterrabbit™ himself. 🐰
You’ll be able to visit Meadow of Memories during the Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne trail at @newcastlecathedral and see your leaf in person. After the trail, the sculpture will return to St Oswald’s Hospice gardens, becoming a permanent tribute to every person included on it. The funds raised from dedications will help the hospice to provide care and support, free of charge, to local adults, children and their families.
