GET READY TO HOP, SKIP AND JUMP INTO AN ART ADVENTURE!
In the summer of 2026, a new exciting, free public art trail will add colour to the streets, parks and public spaces of Newcastle and North Tyneside â and youâre invited to join the fun!
Peter Rabbitâ˘: Tales on the Tyne is presented by and raising funds for St Oswaldâs Hospice. The charity has partnered with creative producers Wild in Art, The World of Peter Rabbit and Headline Partners Newcastle City Council to bring you a free, inclusive art adventure that the whole family can enjoy.
Following the success of Great North Snowdogs in 2016, Elmerâs Great North Parade in 2019, and Shaun on the Tyne in 2023. St Oswaldâs Hospiceâs fourth art trail will celebrate the charityâs 40th birthday and Beatrix Potterâs 160th anniversary. From Wednesday 15th July â Monday 14th September 2026, Newcastle and North Tyneside will be transformed by the arrival of super-sized sculptures inspired by the much-loved character created by Beatrix Potter, Peter Rabbit. Located alongside some of the cityâs most iconic landmarks, each Peter Rabbit sculpture will be uniquely designed by artists from the region and beyond, providing a fun, family-friendly art trail for locals and visitors to follow.
A series of smaller âLittle Peterâ sculptures, adopted and painted by schools and community groups, will also be displayed as part of the adventure.
A trail map and App will navigate avid art adventurers across the trail, which will be accessible via public transport, helping you discover each sculpture and unlock a series of rewards and fun facts.
Whilst exciting and inspiring people of all ages to celebrate our beautiful city through creativity, the trail will also increase public awareness about hospice care and its importance and impact on our whole community. When the trail ends, the large Peter Rabbit sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for St Oswaldâs Hospice.
Peter Rabbitâ˘: Tales on the Tyne is the perfect summer holiday activity, free for all and packed full of outdoor adventure. And by getting involved, youâll be showing your support to the patients and families who rely on the care of St Oswaldâs Hospice.

Today is the final painting day for our trail artists! đ¨đ°
Our talented creative crew are putting the finishing touches to their @officialpeterrabbit⢠sculptures, transforming blank forms into hare-raising works of art. We popped into the painting space to see their progress, and it was incredible to see so many colourful rabbits lined up and almost ready to hop into the spotlight for their big reveal! â¨
