This design imagines Peter Rabbit as a North East miner, exploring regional identity across different places and periods. Details reference the long history of coal mining, from early labour and pit ponies to later industrial decline. Reflecting how communities adapted and carried labour, memory, and hope across generations.

Please note: This sculpture is located at the Pavillion at Richardson Dees Park. When the pavilion shutters are down, the sculpture will be unavailable for viewing. Please visit this sculpture between the following times:

  • Monday – Thursday: 9.30am – 6.30pm

Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne Grand Finale Auction

The finale event of Tales on the Tyne will see the sculptures under the spotlight one last time, finding their forever homes at auction.

Almost all of the large sculptures will go under the hammer in a bidding spectacular, with funds raised supporting the work of St Oswald’s Hospice. There will also be a live online auction running in sync with the ‘in the room’ bids, which is guaranteed to build the excitement and healthy competition to snap up one of these unique pieces of art.
