Northumbrian Water supplies safe, clean drinking water and removes and treats wastewater for 2.7 million people across the North East of England, supporting strong public health and wellbeing in the communities it serves. Its role extends beyond essential services, with significant influence on the natural environment, local communities and the regional economy.
The company provides vital services 24 hours a day, supplying more than 700 megalitres of water every day. Water is sourced from reservoirs, rivers and groundwater, treated at operational sites, and delivered through an extensive network of pipes to homes and businesses.
In recognition of this commitment, Northumbrian Water was ranked the best water company for customer service by industry regulator Ofwat in 2025. Its strong focus on customer engagement and efficiency was further recognised at the 2025 Water Industry Awards, where it received Customer Initiative of the Year and Water Efficiency Project of the Year.

Last night was quite something! ✨🐰
@crowneplazancl was taken over by a whole fluffle of excited rabbits – aka our Tales on the Tyne trail sponsors – for our Artist & Sponsor Matching event. 🤝
After an hour of checking out the shortlisted designs (and plenty of nervous debating), our brilliant sponsors took on The Bunny Hop, bouncing their way to claim their favourite @officialpeterrabbit™ design. They absolutely nailed it. Huge thanks to them for being such good sports. 💙
🎨 Our final designs are now confirmed

Behind the Scenes at Tales on the Tyne HQ 👀
We know you all love a little sneak peek into what goes on behind the scenes here at Tales on the Tyne HQ! A couple of weeks ago, we gathered with our trail Art Curators, James and Victoria, along with the teams from The World of @officialpeterrabbit™ and @wildinart, for the exciting – but incredibly tough – task of shortlisting designs for this year’s trail. 🐰
We were blown away to receive over 450 submissions from artists, each bringing unique ideas, styles and stories. Shortlisting them was no easy task! 🎨
After several hours of careful discussion, we finalised the shortlist. These selected designs will be showcased at a special event at the end of the month, where our trail sponsors will view the artworks and choose their favourites. The chosen artists will then be commissioned to bring their creations to life, ready for the big trail launch in July. Trust us… the designs are stunning, and this is going to be a trail to remember! 🐰💙
All artists have now been contacted to let them know whether their design has been selected for the matching event or not.

Yesterday was an inspiring day for the schools and groups taking part in our SOLD OUT Community Learning Programme! 🐰
We welcomed them to @quorum_park for a special inspiration session, giving everyone a sneak peek into the exciting project ahead as they prepare to design and decorate their very own Little @officialpeterrabbit™ sculpture. 👀
Annie from @wildinart joined us to share creative tips, ideas and plenty of encouragement to help spark imagination back in the classroom. Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for… sculpture collection time!
It was wonderful to see each Little Peter Rabbit™ carefully buckled up in cars -seatbelts on, of course -ready to head off for their glow ups. Over the next few weeks, these blank sculptures will be transformed into beautiful, colourful creations before returning to us in July, ready to hop onto the trail. 💙
Good luck to all of our Community Learning Programme schools and groups. We can’t wait to see your amazing designs come to life! 🍀🐇

With Mother’s Day approaching on Sunday 15th March, we know this can be a difficult time for those whose mums, or mother figures, are no longer here to celebrate in person. 💙
If you’d like to do something meaningful to honour your mum, or anyone you love and miss, you might wish to dedicate a leaf in their memory on our Meadow of Memories book bench. 🍂
Your dedication will ensure their name becomes part of a beautiful sculpture featured in this summer’s @officialpeterrabbit ™: Tales on the Tyne art trail. The bench will be displayed for nine weeks at @newcastlecathedral , where you’re welcome to visit it and spend a quiet moment of remembrance. Afterwards, it will return to a permanent home in the gardens of St Oswald’s Hospice.

There were no Monday blues for Team Tales on the Tyne as we welcomed a very special delivery…a fabulous fluffle of @officialpeterrabbit™ sculptures who hopped into their tem-paw-rary home to plenty of excitement! Now burrowed away safely in our painting space at @quorum_park, they’re eagerly waiting to be paired with the talented artists who’ll bring them to life for this summer’s trail. 💙
A huge thank you to the brilliant Quorum team and our friends at trail sponsors SSCL and @elavon_europe for helping us carefully unload, unpack, and check over every single Peter Rabbit™.
