Northumbrian Water

Northumbrian Water supplies safe, clean drinking water and removes and treats wastewater for 2.7 million people across the North East of England, supporting strong public health and wellbeing in the communities it serves. Its role extends beyond essential services, with significant influence on the natural environment, local communities and the regional economy.

The company provides vital services 24 hours a day, supplying more than 700 megalitres of water every day. Water is sourced from reservoirs, rivers and groundwater, treated at operational sites, and delivered through an extensive network of pipes to homes and businesses.

In recognition of this commitment, Northumbrian Water was ranked the best water company for customer service by industry regulator Ofwat in 2025. Its strong focus on customer engagement and efficiency was further recognised at the 2025 Water Industry Awards, where it received Customer Initiative of the Year and Water Efficiency Project of the Year.
