Behind every one of our 43 unique, hand-painted @officialpeterrabbit sculptures is a hare-raisingly talented artist. We received hundreds of entries to our open call last year, and choosing the final line-up was no easy hop! 🐰
We are absolutely delighted with the finished sculptures, and many trail-goers have told us they believe this is the highest-quality selection across any of our trails to date. Many of the artists live and work in the North East and are painting for an art trail for the very first time. As well as being brilliant artists, they have supported and championed the trail throughout and have been an absolute joy to work with. 💙
So let’s show them some bunny love! As you hop around the trail, take a moment to read each sculpture’s information plaque and discover more about the creative behind the design. 👨🎨

Peter of the Pit is a bunny who really appreciates his beauty sleep (not that he needs it, of course, he’s already looking pretty hoppy). He’s a bit of an early night, lie-in kind of guy, so we wanted to make it clear when he is available to view, to avoid any bunny being disappointed. 🐰
Although he can be found at Richardson Dees Park in Wallsend, as per our map, he is located just inside the main entrance to the Community Pavilion. In the evening and overnight, he will be safely tucked away behind security shutters, giving him plenty of time to rest his paws and recharge his bunny batteries before he’s up and ready to meet you all the next morning. 😴
His viewing times are 👇
Monday – Thursday | 9.30am – 6.30pm
Friday – Sunday | 9.30am – 3.30pm
Outside of these times, Peter will be tucked away and unable to be seen, so please keep this in mind when planning a visit to the park.

A huge well done to the family and friends of Conlan who took on the trail last weekend, raising vital funds @stoswaldsuk 💙🐰
Conlan, who died in 2023, aged 14, loved to get out and about and especially enjoyed collecting sculptures on previous art trails.
Lee, Conlan’s dad, said:
“We felt it was a fitting tribute to our son to complete this art trail together, using some of Conlan’s favourite modes of transport: the bus, the Metro and bike. We decided to make it into more of a challenge, splitting into 3 teams each travelling on a different
vehicle, racing each other to the finish line.”
The group included Conlan’s parents, his two brothers, his cousin alongside his carer Nick, and Nick’s wife, Judy. Together, they have raised over £1800.

We had a fantastic first day hosting the team from Penguin and @wildinart, along with trail parters from a range of organisations, who will host their own trails in 2027 and 2028. 🎉
They all hopped into Newcastle to see #TalesOnTheTyne in action and learn more from the team to support them with planning their own trails coming up. We took them on a tour of our city centre and Quayside sculptures in the sunshine and tomorrow, we will join them for a workshop to hop into all things art trail! 🎨🧑🎨
We’d like to say a big thank you to the Wild in Art and Penguin teams who have played a huge part in making Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne a reality. 🐰💙
