Newcastle City Council

Newcastle City Council’s Cultural Events Team is powering an ambitious 10-year programme, positioning Newcastle as one of the UK’s most exciting cultural destinations.

As placemakers, they use culture to spark energy across the city, animating spaces, shaping identity and bringing people together, while connecting culture to place, economy, tourism, health and wellbeing.

From grassroots neighbourhood moments to bold, city-defining experiences, the programme creates lasting impact for artists, communities and audiences, shaping a Newcastle that’s vibrant, inclusive and full of possibility.

Leading the charge is NOVUM Summer Festival, a headline event and full-city 3-day takeover of culture, play and entertainment. From Friday 7 – Sunday 9 August, streets, squares, venues and unexpected corners transform into a colourful playground of performance, creativity and free, joy-filled experiences.
