Our design was inspired by the young people who come from diverse backgrounds and work on some amazing project here.
We are a youth arts organisation and we work with children and young people in Horden and across East Durham. We are huge advocates of youth voice and so we handed over the design ideas to them. The idea for the design for ‘Gwen the Disco Bunny’, came from the shared love of a party, disco, sing-a-long whilst we paint or work and karaoke, amongst all of the group (including staff members). The love of pigeons has become a bit of an ‘inside joke’ too! Gwen’s name was inspired by one of our longest serving members of staff who very recently lost her ‘mam’ Gwen to cancer. This staff member is very much loved by all of the children and young people we work with and this was their way of showing her that!
Gwen the Disco Bunny is adorned with vibrant details symbolising the group’s shared passions, from music and dance to colourful art, blending personal touches and collective ‘loves’ to create a joyful celebration of community spirit and appreciation.
