In Summer 2026, Newcastle and North Tyneside will host a large-scale art trail of sculptures based on the much-loved character created by Beatrix Potter. Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne offers you an unique opportunity to have your art showcased to a wide audience as part of this mass participation event.
St Oswald’s Hospice is working in partnership with Wild in Art and The World of Peter Rabbit to bring colour, conversation and creativity to the region’s streets, parks and public buildings and we are now seeking artists, designers and illustrators to create engaging designs that will transform our ‘fluffle’ of Peter Rabbits from blank canvasses to pieces of art that will inspire and delight.
Submissions are now open to be in with the chance of being commissioned to design and paint a large Peter Rabbit sculpture. See below for details of how to enter.
After the closing date of Friday 13th February 2026, we will put all the designs in front of our trail art curators who will make a shortlist. Trail sponsors will then have the chance to choose their favourite design, which they will sponsor on the trail. The successful artists will then be commissioned and painting will begin! If selected, you will be tasked with transferring your design to a full sized, 3D Peter Rabbit sculpture which will be displayed on the trail across summer 2026 and seen by thousands. Your unique artwork will then be sold at auction, raising funds to leave a lasting legacy of the trail to St Oswald’s Hospice.
We invite applications from artists from across the UK!
But we are particularly interested in seeing designs submitted by those living and working in the North East.
You don’t have to be a professional artist to apply, but you must be able to complete your sculpture to a high enough standard to dazzle visitors to the trail and to sell at an auction once the trail ends.

Submissions close on Friday 13th February 2026. All designs will be considered by our trail curators, who may get in touch with artists should they need any more information. Our final selection of designs will be commissioned by April and successful artists will have April and May to paint their Peter Rabbit.

The hospice is running a special campaign that began at 8am today and ends tomorrow at 5pm. During this period, every donation made through their campaign page will be double thanks to a match funding pot. The hope it to raise a massive £300,000 in 33 hours, which will fund the charity`s vital bereavement support and social work services for a whole year.
All of the hospice`s services are free those who use them. Yet the bereavement support and social work services receive no statutory funding, relying on charitable donations to keep them running.
Already, the total raised has exceeded £60,000. If you would like to join in the race to hit the target, you can make a donation now which will be instantly doubled, at no extra cost to you.

It’s almost @great_run weekend and our Big and Little @officialpeterrabbit’s are ear-resistibly excited to cheer on the runners. Although they are built more to spectate than run, they have popped on their headbands and @stoswaldsuk vests as the excitement builds for the big day. 🐰🏃
We would like to wish good luck to everyone taking part in the Mini & Junior race on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday, especially the 400 adults and children who will be running in support of St Oswald’s Hospice. If you spot one of the hospice runners, please give them a cheer! 🎉

It’s almost @great_run weekend and our Big and Little @officialpeterrabbit’s are ear-resistibly excited to cheer on the runners. Although they are built more to spectate than run, they have popped on their headbands and @stoswaldsuk vests as the excitement builds for the big day. 🐰🏃
We would like to wish good luck to everyone taking part in the Mini & Junior race on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday, especially the 400 adults and children who will be running in support of St Oswald’s Hospice. If you spot one of the hospice runners, please give them a cheer! 🎉
And if you are down on the Quayside in Newcastle for the Mini & Junior Great North Run on Saturday, you can meet little @officialpeterrabbit and pose for a selfie with him! 🤳
You’ll find him with the St Oswald’s Hospice team just outside The Quayside Garden, near to the finish line.
