Our design was inspired by our love of the coast and enjoyment of pirate characters in many story books.
A class was asked to produce a design that could be used on the trail and one was selected to adapt. There is a group at school called the Mini Vinnies. They helped to work on this design, with other children too, who really enjoy art. Inspiration was taken from pirate characters in story books and research was done online to collect images of pirate patches, flags, anchors, jewellery and pirate buttons. The aim was to create a friendly looking pirate rabbit that we could fall in love with, with lots of little, interesting details and accessories to notice.
Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne Grand Finale Auction
The finale event of Tales on the Tyne will see the sculptures under the spotlight one last time, finding their forever homes at auction.
Almost all of the large sculptures will go under the hammer in a bidding spectacular, with funds raised supporting the work of St Oswald’s Hospice. There will also be a live online auction running in sync with the ‘in the room’ bids, which is guaranteed to build the excitement and healthy competition to snap up one of these unique pieces of art.
